Our Winter Gritting Service News

Coming through winter with our heads held high
What happens when the temperature plummets to sub-zero or the weather threatens snow? Are your car parks and service ways safe for your staff and customers? Have you arranged in advance for a reliable winter gritting and snow clearing service provider to make sure your property is as safe as it can be? Forward planning can make all the difference as our clients found out in the first two weeks of February 2009.
Dominic Robertson, Shorts Truegrit's Operations Director said:
"Our gritting system was tested to the limit during the chaotic snow and ice period in the first two weeks in February this year but we held our own, even managing take on new customers desperate to clear snow and ice to make their site safe so they could get their staff back into work."
"Our biggest problem was dealing with the hundreds of phone calls asking if we could supply just salt! It was a dilemma for us because as much as we would have liked to have helped with that, our fear was that if we did then we wouldn't have enough salt to put down on our customers' sites who booked our complete spreading service back before the winter started."
He added with a smile:
"One of the lorry drivers delivering our salt to us in February commented that he dared not mention to anyone what he was carrying in his truck for he thought he might get hijacked, as at the time the demand for the salt made it a highly valuable cargo!"
