Our Environmental Practices
At Shorts Truegrit, we're focused on the environment. We believe in and are firmly committed to a greener planet. We work hard to ensure that our business practices are as green as they can be.
As part of Shorts Group, we're committed to taking the best possible care of our environment. We're concerned about climate change and we're doing what we can to follow best green practices.
We want our customers to know what we are doing to help protect the environment:
- We use an environmentally friendly all-natural salt product, which contains an additive produced from a renewable and easily degradable source. The additive reduces loss during spreading, resulting in greater residual salt levels for longer term protection. That longer protection can lead to fewer gritting callouts.
- We are a nationwide provider of gritting services, built on a localised network. This means that our gritting teams serve only their immediate area, thereby limiting the amount of travel distance from our property to yours. This limits our carbon emissions.
- We utilise the MeteoGroup weather reporting service to make sure that we have the most accurate weather information available. This helps us make sure that we grit only when we're needed.
- As a company, we recycle paper and other office products.
- As part of Shorts Group, we're a key element of a company that recycles more than 250,000 tons of material every year.
